Initially designed as an extension to a house, but relentlessly rejected by the local building regulations, in the attempt to overcome boundaries and limitations, dmvA designed this mobile unit we want to bring today in discussion. Being a mobile construction and also a piece of art, this bolb managed to avoid the building codes that are so strict. This smooth looking egg resulted after a work that lasted for 18 months. AD&C started the entire project with the building of a timber frame, that was eventually covered up with a fabric that stretches and then plastered with polyester that was going to be sanded over and over again until it got to the right shape.
Niches lighted by leds helped with building up the inside space. PUR isulation was used for filling the area in between the outer and inner shell. It seems hard to believe, but this egg-house is equipped with all the things a house really needs: kitchen, bathroom, a bed, lighting and a few niches for depositing several personal things. There is a section of this egg that can be opened automatically and can be used like a porch. This unit let’s you use it as a guestroom, a garden-house, an office or any other thing might pass in your mind. The entire egg gets to the same sizes as a classical caravan.
Can’t wait to hear how many of you would give up their appartments to live in such a house anywhere in this world?
